With Sky Pilot’s integration with Subscription and Membership apps, you can deliver digital content to customers on a recurring payment plan — and automatically revoke access when a subscription ends.
Sky Pilot offers flexible ways to manage subscriptions and provide content access. Below, we’ll outline two common approaches so you can choose the one that best fits your business model.
Overview of Subscription Types
1. All Access Subscription
In an All Access setup, all active subscribers can access the same digital content, no matter when they joined. Think of this like Netflix or Spotify — everyone has access to the full library as long as their subscription is active.
2. Magazine-Style Subscription
In a Magazine setup, new subscribers only gain access to the content released during their subscription period and any new content published while they remain subscribed. They don’t see content from before their start date. This model works well for businesses that release content on a schedule, like online courses, newsletters, or serialized media.
Setting Up Subscription Types
1. All Access Subscription
To give all subscribers access to the same content:
- Integrate Sky Pilot with your subscription app
- Create a single subscription product in Shopify.
- Attach all digital files you want subscribers to access to that product in Sky Pilot.
You can add new content at any time and use Sky Pilot’s built-in email notifications to alert customers. Keep in mind that Sky Pilot’s “notify all past purchasers” option does not check subscription status — so it may contact inactive subscribers as well. This can be used as a re-engagement strategy, but if you prefer to email only active subscribers, we recommend using Klaviyo or another marketing automation app.

2. Magazine Subscription
If you want subscribers to receive different content each billing cycle, Sky Pilot works seamlessly with Loop Subscriptions.
Loop supports magazine-style setups where products — and their attached digital files in Sky Pilot — can change over time. You can do this using:
- Build a Bundle: Let customers choose multiple products to receive together, giving flexibility to offer new content each month or week.
- Prepaid Subscriptions: Charge customers upfront for a set number of deliveries and curate which products (and files) are included in each cycle.
This setup ensures customers only have access to the content released during their active subscription period. For more details, reach out to Loop Subscriptions directly.
