Do plays (watching/streaming) count toward download limits or bandwidth usage?

Plays (streaming or watching audio/video content) count toward bandwidth usage, but they do not count toward download limits.

When a customer streams a file, data is transferred from Sky Pilot’s servers to the customer’s device in real time, which uses bandwidth. However, streaming does not create a “download event,” so it does not reduce or affect the number of allowed downloads for that file.

To make it clear:

  • Streaming / plays → counts toward bandwidth usage
  • Streaming / plays → does NOT count toward download limits
  • Downloads → count toward both bandwidth usage and download limits

This applies only to Sky Pilot-hosted video and audio files. For third-party providers such as Vimeo, Wistia, or Sprout, bandwidth usage is handled by those platforms instead of Sky Pilot.
