My customer's are seeing a 404/Not Found page when trying to access their download page. What can I do?

If your customers see a "The requested URL was not found on this server (404)" error when trying to access their Sky Pilot download page, the issue is most commonly caused by an incorrect App Proxy configuration or a URL conflict with another installed digital downloads app.

The App Proxy routes customers from your storefront URL to their secure download page. If the subpath is misconfigured—or if another app has taken over the /downloads path—customers will land on a broken 404 page.

Step 1: Resolve App Proxy URL Conflicts

Shopify only allows one app to use the /apps/downloads subpath at a time. If you previously installed or currently have another digital downloads app active, Shopify automatically assigns Sky Pilot an alternate path like /apps/downloads-1 to avoid a collision.

To resolve the path conflict, update the conflicting app first:

  • Go to Shopify Admin → Settings → Apps and sales channels.
  • Select the other digital downloads app and open its App Proxy settings.
  • Change its subpath to something other than downloads (e.g., downloads-old or digital-assets).
  • Save your changes.

Then, update Sky Pilot's App Proxy:

  • Return to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
  • Select Sky Pilot and open its App Proxy settings.
  • Update the proxy subpath to downloads so the full URL structure ends with [.myshopify.com/apps/downloads](https://.myshopify.com/apps/downloads) (ensuring no extra characters, numbers, or custom paths remain).
  • Save your changes.

Step 2: Verify Your App Proxy Settings

If you don't have another digital downloads app installed, simply double-check that the subpath is cleanly configured:

  • In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels.
  • Click Sky Pilot and open App Proxy settings.
  • Confirm that the URL path ends with [.myshopify.com/apps/downloads](https://.myshopify.com/apps/downloads).

Still Having Issues?

If your App Proxy path is correctly set to /apps/downloads and customers are still getting a 404 error, it may point to a broader store routing setup or a temporary Shopify system issue.
