What’s the difference between storage and bandwidth?

Sky Pilot plans include both storage and bandwidth, but they measure completely different things and are used in different ways.

Storage refers to how much content you can keep in your Sky Pilot account. This includes all uploaded files such as PDFs, images, audio, and videos. Each plan comes with a specific storage limit, and this storage does not reset automatically. It only decreases when you delete files from your account, meaning your stored content remains until you actively remove it.

Bandwidth refers to how much data is transferred when your customers access your content. This includes downloads and streaming (for Sky Pilot-hosted media). Unlike storage, bandwidth is time-based and resets every month on the 1st of each month, regardless of usage.

To summarize:

  • Storage → persistent space for your files (only changes when you add/remove files)
  • Bandwidth → monthly data transfer limit (resets every month)

Every Sky Pilot plan includes different storage and bandwidth allocations, so you should choose a plan based on your expected content size and customer activity. You can view all available plans in the Pricing section here.
