Why are my customers stuck in an endless login loop?

In a very small number of cases, a customer might enter a frustrating loop where they are prompted to log in, successfully input their credentials, but are immediately kicked right back to the login screen over and over again in an endless circle.

This specific looping behavior is completely unrelated to Sky Pilot, and it is absolutely not an issue with your Sky Pilot setup.

Instead, this is a known external storefront issue caused directly by how a customer's specific web browser interacts with Shopify’s native account session handler. When it happens, the browser is essentially blocking or losing the secure identity token Shopify uses to remember that the user just successfully logged in.

What Causes the Loop?

The endless login circle is typically triggered by local browser-side settings and Shopify platform dynamics:

  • Blocked Third-Party Cookies: If a customer has strict privacy settings enabled (very common in Safari on iOS or Brave browsers), their browser will reject the authentication cookies Shopify attempts to drop. Without those cookies, the storefront instantly "forgets" the login session the second the page reloads.

  • Cached Corrupt Session Data: Older account cookies cached inside the customer's browser can conflict with current storefront data, trapping the browser session in a loop.

  • Aggressive Ad-Blockers or Privacy Extensions: Certain browser extensions misidentify Shopify's account verification redirects as tracking scripts and actively cut the security connection mid-route.

What to Do Next

Because this issue takes place entirely within the customer's local browser environment and Shopify's core architecture, it cannot be managed or fixed inside the Sky Pilot dashboard.

You can suggest that the customer attempts to use an Incognito / Private Window or try clearing their browser cache and cookies to see if it clears their local session block.

However, if those basic steps do not work or if your users do not know how to perform them, this must be investigated directly by Shopify. Shopify has previously investigated identical platform-wide behavior where customer sessions were not properly propagated across app-proxy requests, causing the customer object to be completely unavailable even when the user appeared logged in.

Sky Pilot is working exactly as intended. If this looping continues on your storefront, it needs to be reported directly to Shopify Support with specific customer examples so their engineering team can look into their session handling infrastructure on your store.
